[ It's definitely an interesting little toy, and a thoughtful gift, and Bruce surprisingly takes Clark's word for it that there was nothing hidden inside and puts it down in the basement with his slowly growing collection of vehicles.

Then he sits down in the doorway of the batmobile and takes out his phone to call Clark. ]

Hey, you asked me to call?

[No angry tone that Clark can perceive. Good, he'd been worried he could have been overstepped some boundaries (and did it anyway because he can be an ass).]

I figured you already knew but just in case... I bumped into someone that goes by Jonathan Crane the other day. But he wasn't the one I know from my world so I thought that maybe he could be from yours?

[ He relaxes slightly, at the explanation. Crane, of course. There's tension in his voice regardless. ]

He's been very busy, but I have my eye on him. I'm funding the charity that supports his weekend drop in clinic so that I can do just that.

He's... He's my Crane, and because of that you may underestimate him. You shouldn't; he's incredibly dangerous. He's in touch with the modern world, and uniquely driven, intelligent and remorseless.

['I wouldn't do that' is pretty clear on his tone, but he tries not to sound slightly hurt. Which is honestly a bit hypocritical from Clark's part since he's underestimated villains plenty of times in the past.]

You know what he becomes in my world. Is it the same in yours?

[ Clark should be hurt by the comment. Bruce is implying, by definition, that he's been underestimated too, and while that's true so is the opposite in some cases. But he feels strongly about Crane--by all accounts, the man that Alfred remarked upon is a joke, a caricature compared to the sharp villain Bruce knows. ]

He fashions himself as the Scarecrow, wears a burlap sack over his head and uses an airborne fear toxin on his victims. I wouldn't put it past him to develop a similar compound here.

In my world, he was directed in his machinations by Ra's al Ghul. They almost destroyed Gotham.
